In the early 1990s, Yury Verlinsky and Anver Kuliev founded the International Society for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGDIS) which continues with annual meetings each year mainly in Europe and the US. Both major reproductive medicine societies, the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) have specialist sessions and precongress courses on preimplantation genetics. More recently, Controversies in Preconception, Preimplantation and Prenatal Genetic Diagnosis (CoGEN) has held a series of annual meetings devoted to bridging the gap between pre- and postimplantation genetics and the International Society of Reproductive genetics held its inaugural meeting in Beijing, China. In addition, there are now many online webinars and debates.
